Robert L. Cordeiro, 85, of Nashua, NH, formerly of Lowell, passed away on Monday, April 17 after a brief illness at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was the widower of Margaret M. (Dellicechi) Cordeiro who passed away in 1971.
A son of the late Joseph J. Cordeiro and the late Emily (Fagundes) Cordeiro, he was born on November 8, 1937 in Lowell. He was educated in the Lowell area and then joined the United States Air Force Reserves, serving his country for a period of 6 years before his honorable discharge. After his service, he worked as a painter and later moved into the railroad industry where he was employed as a carman for many years, first with B&M and later with Amtrak, retiring at age 62. In his spare time, Bob loved fishing and his boats. He also snowmobiled in his younger days.
He is survived by his son, Robert Cordeiro and his wife, Kathleen, of Pepperell, his 2 grandchildren, Jillian Cordeiro and her partner Jeff Cormier of Pepperell and Adam Cordeiro and his fiance, Kathryn McMahon, of Pepperell, his great grandson, Donovan, and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved dog Eli.
He was the last surviving Cordeiro sibling and was also predeceased by his cherished dogs, the late Chu Chu and the late Sailor.
All are welcome to attend his calling hours on Sunday, April 23, 2023, from 2 pm until 6 pm at the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA. All are also welcome on Monday to attend his funeral. His funeral procession will begin from the funeral home at 9 am, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am at Saint Anthony’s Church, 893 Central Street, Lowell.
