Martha E. (Erickson) Adams, 101, of Worcester died Wednesday, April 19th in the Life Care Center of Auburn. Her husband of 64 years, Russell Adams died in 2006. She leaves two sons, James W. Adams and his wife, Albertine of Auburn, Robert C. Adams of Worcester; a daughter, Susan E. Johnson of Leicester; a sister, Ann Marie Johnson of North Burwick, Maine; three grandchildren, Mark, Russell, and Amy; five great grandchildren; a niece; and two nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Donna A. Russell; two brothers, Berger and Nils Erickson.
She was born in Vastmanland, Sweden the daughter of Ernst and Frieda (Kallman) Erickson. Martha immigrated to the United States in 1925 at the age of 4 and was proud of her Swedish Heritage. She graduated from Auburn High School and was a former member of Hadwen Park Congregational Church. Martha was an avid Red Sox fan, enjoyed trips to Foxwoods, and playing bingo. A lover of animals, Martha’s favorite was her dog, Mugsy. Listening about her grandchildren’s activities and accomplishments brought great joy to her life. Martha enjoyed grocery shopping but most importantly she enjoyed making the lists of where she would save the most money.
The family would like to the thank the staff and residents of Life Care of Auburn for the compassion and support they gave Martha.
Her visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 25th from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster Street, Worcester. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Second Chance Animal Shelter, 111 Young Road, East Brookfield, MA 01515.
