Logan “Eli” Griffin, 18, of Sycamore passed away Thursday, April 20, 2023, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2023, at the Ashburn Civic Center with the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. Derek Pilkinton will give a eulogy. Eli will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Ashburn Civic Center from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Travis Harper, Jacob Odom, Zach Chalon, Lane Freeman, Lane Fiveash and Jace Wynn will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Crisp Academy Class of 2022.
Born June 6, 2004, in Tift County, Eli was the son of Chad Lee Griffin of Sylvester and the late Suzanne Natasha Pitts Moore. In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Jacob Tyler Gay. He was a student and a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Sycamore.
Eli loved all sports, but particularly, he enjoyed playing football, baseball, wrestling and running track. He was a volunteer coach in softball at Turner County Middle School and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was passionate about music and enjoyed his cologne collection.
In addition to his father, Eli is survived by his parents (guardians), Derek and Brittany Pilkinton of Sycamore; one brother, Wilson Hardy Pilkinton of Sycamore; two sisters, Lynie Mae Pilkinton and Lily Sue Pilkinton, both of Sycamore; His paternal grandmother, Fannie Lee Griffin of Sylvester; his maternal grandmother, Nancy Lentz of Tifton; his maternal great-grandmother, Floy Paulk of Tifton; two aunts, Cassandra Brooke Owen of Tifton and Crystal Marie Kennedy of Australia; and a host of other family members and friends.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to Shepherd’s Spinal Center at www.shepherd.org. A special account will be set up at South Georgia Banking Company to be eventually used as a scholarship fund.
