Carol A. Annunziata, 60, of Greenville, RI, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on April 13, 2023, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was the beloved wife of 36 years to Eric P. Annunziata. In addition to her husband, she leaves behind her two daughters, Brittany and Erica Annunziata and their spouses, Tristen Annunziata, and Samuel Black, as well as her most loyal companion, Bentley, her adored Maltese.
Born in Providence, RI, she was the loving daughter of John Lombardi and the late Sandra (Munroe) Lombardi. Carol was predeceased by her brother, John “Johnny” Lombardi. She is survived by her siblings, Robert Lombardi and his partner Susan Lake, Laurie Maisano and her husband Robert Maisano, and Scott Lombardi and his partner Donald Morrow. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Carol worked as a registered nurse in the emergency department at Rhode Island Hospital for almost 30 years. While seeking more fulfillment from her career, Carol enrolled in the Nursing Education and Family Nurse Practitioner program at The University of Rhode Island (URI). She graduated in 2012 with a master’s degree in education and 2013 with her Family Nurse Practitioner. She has worked for Brown Emergency Medicine as a nurse practitioner for the past 8 years. Carol has also precepted many nursing and nurse practitioner students and was adjunct faculty at URI. She took great pride in her students and for those who have gotten to work with Carol over the years, always felt incredibly privileged.
Those who knew Carol will always remember her as a loving, compassionate, and fiercely loyal woman with an infectious laugh, that we will never forget. She was hard-working, an inspiration to others, and selfless, constantly putting others needs before her own. Carol had a welcoming smile to anyone and everyone. She will be missed greatly by all.
While Carol’s family grieves her loss, they are choosing to remember her in a way that honors her spirit. Her family invites relatives and friends to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, April 25th at 10 a.m. in Saint Philip Parish, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville, RI. Burial will be private. She will be laid to rest at Forest Chapel Cemetery in Barrington, RI.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carol’s name to The Clearity Foundation (www.clearityfoundation.org); an organization that gave her solace and additional resources throughout her diagnosis.
