David W. Keir, 85, of Mattapoisett died Wednesday June 8, 2006 at Sippican Healthcare Center after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Jean (Griffin) Keir and Elinor (O'Brien) Keir.
Born in Pittsburgh, the son of the late John S. and Helen H. (Farin) Keir, he lived in Framingham and Melrose for many years and at Antassawamock in Mattapoisett for the past 30 years.
Mr. Keir was a self-employed manufacturers representative in Framingham and Melrose until his retirement.
During World War II, he served as a flight instructor in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was an avid golfer at Little Harbor Golf Club in Wareham.
Survivors include a son, John Keir of Marion; a daughter, Janet McAuliffe of Baltimore; three stepdaughters, Gail Gerrish of Boulder, CO, Lynn Short of Manchester, and Debra Chiampa of Longmeadow; a sister, Joanne Carley of Lincoln; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
His Funeral Services will be private. Visiting hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Community Nurse & Hospice Care, P.O. Box 831, Fairhaven, MA 02719.
