Jean Mary (Bell) Gray, 84 of Dracut, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at D’Youville Senior Center. She was the widow of the late Donald R. Gray, who passed away in 1994 after over 30 years of marriage.
She was born in Lowell on May 23, 1938 and was a daughter of the late George H. Bell and the late Mary A. (Taylor) Bell. She was raised in Lowell, where she attended the area schools.
Jean later made her home in Dracut where she raised her 3 children. Known as "Nana" to her grandkids, she treasured spending time with them above all else, whether it was doing arts and craft, playing board games or cooking and baking. She also loved bird watching, tea parties, gardening, puzzles and always enjoyed going overboard decorating for the holidays. She loved all animals and rescued many dogs, cats and ducks over the years who became part of her family. She was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
Jean is survived by her two children, James Fenstermaker and his wife, Mary of Carmel Valley, CA, and Mary J. Gala and her husband, Alberto of Winchester, MA; her grandchildren, Alexander and Trentin Gala of Winchester, MA, and Jenna and Ella Fenstermaker of CA; her nephew, Gary Bell of Venice Beach, CA; and many good friends she made throughout the years.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, the late Jean Ann "Gigi" Gray; and her siblings, the latet Lillian Gendreu and the late Theodore 'Teddy' Bell.
On Friday, April 21, 2023 all are welcome to attend her graveside funeral service at 1 p.m. at Lowell Cemetery, 77 Knapp Ave., Lowell.
