Sam Vernon III, 80, of Dorchester passed away on April 3, 2023.
Beloved father, grandfather, brother, friend, and mentor. Sam spent much of his life working with people with mental illness. He was loved and respected by his patients and co-workers, and had a very special ability to connect with those facing serious mental health challenges. Sam was also a union activist for many years, holding increasingly important positions in his local AFSCME chapter, and fighting hard and effectively for the rights of workers. We will all miss him deeply.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Casper Funeral Services at 187 Dorchester Street in South Boston on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at 3PM. All are welcome to speak and share thoughts and memories.
