Maureen (Murphy) Melo, age 64, of Medford passed away on Thursday, April 13th. A lifelong resident, she was the daughter of the late Helen (Dyer) Murphy. Maureen was employed for over 35 years at Mt. Auburn Hospital as an administrative assistant where she touched the lives of many patients with her empathy and kindness. She loved music and dancing, whether she was going to concerts or doing Zuma in her house. She loved her family, having game nights and going on multiple family vacations. Her passion included doing agility, with her dogs Molly, Keely and Gwen.
Maureen was the beloved wife of Joseph Melo, and the devoted mother of Gregory Melo and his wife Kayla of Woburn, and Rebecca Melo of Somerville. She was the loving grandmother of Morgan Melo, and the dear sister of Bill Murphy of Wilmington, Marty Murphy of Malden, and Karen Brogan and her husband John of Winthrop. Maureen was a sister-in-law to Niveria Melo and her husband Jorge DeSouza of Everett, and a cherished aunt to Patrick and Daniel Brogan, Michael and Louis Ciano, Eric Murphy and Annette Barretto. She is also survived by her great nephew Jarrett Ciano.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, April 23rd, from 2 through 5 PM in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, with a prayer service at 5 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may also gather at the main gate of Oak Grove Cemetery, 230 Playstead Rd., Medford on Monday, April 24th by 9:45 AM to join a procession to graveside.
