Bryan M. Desmarais of Westport, passed away unexpectedly on April 12, 2023. He leaves behind his only child, his daughter Gwendellyn R. Desmarais and her mother Mandi L. (DeJesus) Desmarais also of Westport. Bryan also leaves his loving companion Julia Max of Norwood, MA.
He was the son of Debra A. (Hodkinson) Desmarais of Westport and the late Gary L. Desmarais of Wareham. He is also survived by his brother Christopher J. and his wife Maureen L. Desmarais of Dartmouth, his brother Daniel P. Desmarais and his wife Elizabeth H. Wood of Westport, his two nephews and two nieces, Christopher J. Jr., Thomas P. and Kathryn A. Desmarais of Dartmouth and Cedelia C. Desmarais of Westport, along with several aunts, uncles, and many cousins. He is predeceased by his grandparents, the late Harold J. Jr. and Geraldine M. Hodkinson, and the late Normand J. and Gisele Desmarais all of Swansea.
Bryan grew up in Westport and at an early age was very active in sports including baseball for the Westport Little League, played basketball for the Westport basketball league, and also played football for the Sakonnet Schooners in Tiverton, RI. In High School, Bryan was a 3 sport athlete in football, ski team/track and baseball. He was a participant in the first Mr. Stang competition and was a finalist after he did a dance routine to the song, “Now That I can Dance”.
He was a 1995 graduate of Bishop Stang High School, a 2000 Biology graduate of Northeastern University and received his Masters Degree from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences as a Physician Assistant. He was employed by Prima CARE in Fall River as a Physician Assistant in Orthopedics.
His patients referred to him as the handsome Dr. Frenchie! He also was published for several research articles he participated in as an employee of Bedford Research Foundation.
His interests included skiing, cooking, movies, watching his daughter, nieces and nephews play sports, vacationing, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy with his mom, he also loved watching Law and Order, and most importantly he absolutely cherished spending time with his daughter, family and friends.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, April 18, 2023 from the Potter Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport at 11:00 A.M.
Calling hours will be Monday from 4-7 P.M.
Interment will be private.
