Mark W. Lilley, age 67, Ret. Lt. Woburn Fire Dept., of Woburn, passed away on April 10, 2023, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was the beloved husband for 44 years of Susan F. (Burton) Lilley.
Born and raised in Winchester, Mark was the son of the late Edward and Mary (Murray) Lilley. He was a graduate of Winchester High School with the class of 1974. After graduating high school, Mark became an electrician apprentice and was licensed as a Master Electrician, who owned M.W. Lilley Co. for many years.
Mark was introduced to the love of his life, Susan Burton, by his brother’s wife, Priscilla, and the connection was instant. They married three years later. Later in life, he joined the Woburn Fire Dept., obtaining the rank of Lt. and retiring in 2021 after 23 years of service.
In his spare time, Mark enjoyed doing yard work, gardening, and floating around in his pool. He also enjoyed family trips to York, Maine.
In addition to his wife, Susan, Mark is lovingly survived by his children: Joseph M. Lilley and his wife Christa, Sarah M. Burgoyne and her husband Stephen, all of Woburn, his grandchildren: Olivia and Thomas “T.J.” Lilley, Hannah and Lucy Burgoyne. He was the dear brother of Stephen E. Lilley and his wife Judy of Woburn, the late David Lilley and his surviving wife Priscilla Lilley of Woburn, and the late Rosemary Lilley. He is further survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Monday, April 17 from 4-8PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Costello Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 18 at 11AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
