Irene J. Gagnon, age 59, of Lowell, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 6, 2023. She was born on December 21, 1963, in Lowell, to the late Robert and Joan (Spinney) Gagnon. Irene attended the area schools and graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1981.
After graduation, Irene worked in hospitality at the Bedford VA for over 20 years before retiring in 2003. Her love for music and the outdoors led her on many trips to the beach and mountains. Irene's contagious zest for life and her ability to liven up any party will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her. Above all else, spending time with her family brought her the most happiness.
Irene is survived by her son, David Marcouillier of Lowell; her siblings, Christine Gagnon of Lowell and spouse, Bill Christe, Randy Gagnon of Dracut and spouse, Deborah Mcdonald, Cathy Oliviera and her husband Tom of Dracut, and Gary Gagnon of Townsend; and her sons father, Dave Marcouillier of Lowell. She is also survived by her beloved friends Lisa Corey, Debbie Jordan, Britt Euler, many cousins, and extended family members.
In addition to her parents, Irene was predeceased by her sisters, Robin Gagnon and Barbara Gagnon.
Family and friends are invited to attend Irene's calling hours on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, from 3-5 p.m. at McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell. A funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. in the funeral home.
