Edward (Ed) C. Arditte, 67, of Bristol, RI, passed away on April 6, 2023 after a courageous battle with ALS. In the last weeks of his life, he was surrounded by his family and countless friends from many different chapters of his life.
Ed was born in Los Angeles, CA on May 14, 1955 to Leon and Zelda Arditte. He received his BA degree from University of California, Riverside and his MBA from Boston University Graduate School of Management, where he met the love of his life, Barbara (Bibi) Arditte (née Ludwig). The two were married in Glen Cove, NY in 1982 and were together for more than 40 beautiful years. Ed and Bibi went on to have three children, Kimberly, Stephanie, and Michael, whom they raised in Barrington, RI, and later, in Princeton, NJ.
Ed had a distinguished career in finance and corporate strategy. He began his career at Security Pacific Bank, before joining Textron Inc. in Providence, RI in 1986. During his 16 years with Textron, Ed served in multiple roles, including Vice President and Treasurer. In 2003, he joined Tyco International, Ltd., in Princeton, NJ, where he served as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Investor Relations. In 2012, Ed joined Fairway Group Holdings Inc. as Co-President and Chief Financial Officer. Most recently, he served as Chief Financial Officer at AccuWeather Inc. He also served on the Board of Directors at AccuWeather from 2014 until the time of his passing. Ed is remembered by many for his calm and steady leadership, his natural ability to connect with others, and for the invaluable career mentorship he loved to provide. He served his community in many ways, including as Chairman of the Board of Roger Williams Hospital in Providence, RI and the Autoimmune Encephalitis Alliance in Durham, NC.
Ed was a forever friend. He was the organizer of many a reunion weekend and could often be found with friends on the golf course or at a Red Sox or Celtics game. Still, anyone who knew Ed understood that, undoubtedly, his proudest achievement in life was his family. He was a devoted husband to Bibi and an unwavering support for his children. He was happy to share photos of his grandson with anyone who would oblige. There was no place he would rather be than enjoying a sunny summer day with his family on the beaches of Martha’s Vineyard.
Ed was predeceased by his father, Leon and his mother, Zelda. He is survived by his wife, Bibi, his children, Kimberly (Daniel) Hall, Stephanie Arditte, and Michael Arditte, his grandson, Caleb Hall, his brother, Bruce (Nancy) Arditte, his sister-in-law, Irene Ludwig, his niece and nephews, Sarah and Blake Arditte, Keith and Peter Minor, many beloved cousins, and the friends who became family.
Services will be held at the Redwood Chapel at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, RI on Friday, April 14 at 11:15am.
