Richard (Dick) F. Shea, age 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, April 10, 2023.
Dick was born on May 25, 1931 in Brookline, MA to the late Thomas and Margaret Shea. Dick graduated from North Weymouth High School and Franklin Institute of Technology. After working at several jobs in the industry, he achieved his dream of owning his own company when in 1966, he opened Nauset Engineering and Equipment, Inc. His success in his business was because of grit, hard work, and the loving support of his wife, Gini. Their chance meeting outside of Remik’s Department Store one chilly December evening began a 62 year love affair which was a beautiful union full of love, faith, laughs, and adventures.
Dick married Gini in 1959, and together, they created a loving family. Dick is survived by his 3 children and their spouses: Susan M. Sheehy and her husband, Brian Sheehy, Richard F. Shea Jr and his wife, Patricia Shea, and William T. Shea, and his wife, Deborah Shea. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Catherine Hoffmann and her husband Robert Hoffmann, Kevin Sheehy and his fiance, Aurora Crum, Ryan Shea, McKenzie Shea, Brianna Shea, and Brendan Shea. In addition to his immediate family, Dick is survived by his 2 siblings, Nancy Donodeo and Margaret Shiers. He is also predeceased by his sister, Barbara Aldrich. Furthermore, Dick is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Dick enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including playing golf, skiing, and traveling the world with Gini. Dick also loved walking the beach, spending time with his grandchildren racing shells on the Brewster flats, playing bocce in the side yard, and spending many fun evenings around the dinner table with his family at his home in Canton and in Brewster on Cape Cod.
Dick was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who found joy every day of his life. Dick’s greatest legacy was the lessons he taught about living a life of faith and joy, and the love he and Gini had for each other and their family.
