Diane M. Soper, (better known to her family as Mickey Mouse) 74, of Kingston, Massachusetts died on March 29 at Wingate at Silver Lake Long-term Care facility with her sister by her side. She fought a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Quincy, Massachusetts, Diane was the third daughter of the late Vincent (Mike) and Rita Dolan and sister of the late Michael Dolan of Merrimack, New Hampshire.
She is survived by her sisters Donna Dibbern and her husband Gerald of Hanson; Dorothy Faust and her husband Gordan of Spencer; and her devoted nephew, John Dibbern of Hanson; her nephew James Dibbern and his wife Stacy of Springfield, Massachusetts; her niece Karen Sim and her husband Greg of Orange, Connecticut; and her niece Tracy Stowbridge and her husband Chris of Millbury, Massachusetts and several great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her many fun-loving cousins.
She is also survived by Nancy McCullough of Hanson, her loving, long-time friend of over 35 years and her dear friend of over 30 years, Betty Burns of South Carolina. Diane held fond memories of her late dear friend Karla Martel.
Diane resided in Randolph, Massachusetts and was a 1967 graduate of Randolph High School. Her prior residences were in Brockton, Stoughton and Hanson, Massachusetts. She was an administrative assistant and a long-time employee of Robert Reiser & Co. of Canton.
Diane enjoyed dancing, listening to music, knitting, and spending time with family and friends.
For the past four years Diane called Wingate at Silver Lake her home where she participated with her friends and residents in coffee socials, chair exercises and bingo. The family wishes to thank the activities department, aides, nurses, her doctor, and everyone who provided her with selfless care. She was fortunate to have such a caring team. During her last days they gave her the most precious gift of being able to say “goodbye.”
The family also wishes to acknowledge Cranberry Hospice for their loving attention to Diane’s end of life care. Their presence, care and support were a blessing and a gift to Diane and the family.
Burial will be private.
