MESSINA, Richard J. (Dick) of Dedham, passed away peacefully at his home on April 7, 2023. Beloved husband of Mary Ann (Scampoli) Messina. Devoted father of Lisa MacElhiney of Milford and Richard J. Messina Jr. and his wife Lisa of Medway. Grandfather of Taryn, Daniel, Taylor, Jeffrey, and Stephanie. Brother of Rita Garufi of Roslindale, Roberta Page of Foxboro, and the late Robert Messina.
Dick was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, a retired Civil Engineer for the MDC, and member of the Dedham Retired Men’s Club.
In his free time, Dick enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He enjoyed bowling, family time, and was an avid Boston sports fan.
Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham on Monday, April 10 from 4-7pm. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday, April 11 at 8am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Dedham at 9am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited following the Mass to the Interment in Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.
