Evelyn A. (Carvalho) Cambra passed away peacefully surrounded by her close family on April 5, 2023 at the age of 84 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Evelyn will be remembered as a loving wife, a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a cherished friend. Evelyn was born in Dartmouth, MA but was a lifelong resident of Westport where she built a beautiful home with her doting husband James H. Cambra. They began dating their junior year of high school and shared 64 beautiful years of marriage. Together they enjoyed traveling to Puerto Rico, Florida and exploring New England. Evelyn found joy in planting and took pride in the beautiful backyard she created with Jim. They often could be found sitting on their porch watching the birds and enjoying a beautiful evening with a cocktail. Most importantly Evelyn will be remembered for her love of her family. She raised two wonderful children, two grandchildren and most recently was blessed with two new great-grandchildren. She often enjoyed looking through pictures or sharing videos of the newest additions as they brought her so much joy.
She is the daughter of the late Manuel Carvalho and Mary (Souza) Carvalho. Evelyn leaves behind her husband James H. Cambra, son James H. Cambra Jr., daughter Robin M. Sykes and her husband Robert, granddaughter Megan Greene and her husband Robert, grandson Robert Sykes and his wife Lacy and great-grandchildren Hudson Greene and Lily Sykes. She is survived by her brothers Manuel Carvalho and his wife Betty, Richard Carvalho and his wife Janice and is predeceased by her sister Pauline Furtado.
Visitation will be held Monday April 10th from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Potters Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd Westport, MA 02790
Funeral Services will be held graveside Tuesday April 11th at 11:00 AM at Beech Grove cemetery, Westport, MA with a luncheon to follow at Bittersweet Farm.
