Alfredo Bartolozzi, Jr. passed away on April 3, 2023 from causes associated with Younger-Onset Alzheimer's Disease. Also known as Fred, Freddie and Fredo, he grew up in Medford, MA, where he loved playing soccer for the Medford Mustangs with his friends and cousins. He became a professional bartender, learning the ropes from his father, "Butchie," at Locke Ober's in Boston. He also worked at the Boston Sail Loft, Cottonwood Café, Small Planet and The Globe, where he was named one of the top bartenders in Boston.
He married his beloved wife and soulmate, Rhiana, and they raised their two daughters, Isabella and Jesse, in Watertown, MA. Alfredo immersed himself in Watertown immediately, overseeing the Youth Soccer program, bartending at Donohue's and running the Watertown Food Pantry with his devoted volunteers. He loved coaching soccer and was extremely involved in so many of his daughters' activities. Anyone who met him was enamored with his smile, friendly disposition, and zest for life.
Fishing with his father, uncles, cousins, and especially his daughters, was always a highlight for Alfredo. He was an avid sports fan; thrilled to see all the pennants won, particularly by the Red Sox and Bruins. The Rolling Stones, U2, Frank Sinatra, and Andrea Bocelli were among his favorites as a dedicated music lover. Music played an integral part in living with Alzheimer's, which he loved to share with his cherished Alz Family. Alfredo was a fervent advocate for Alzheimer's causes, particularly research and resources so future generations can be treated and cured. He met with Congresswoman Katherine Clark, and Senators Elizabeth Warren and Edward Markey; this advocacy and speaking out for those who can't, is a tradition carried on by his family.
Most of all, he defined what it is to be a family man. Isabella and Jesse were the loves of his life. Alfredo embraced every ounce of fatherhood and nothing made him happier. He was the "Dad" that all the teachers, parents, friends, and family wanted to include with his infectious enthusiasm and zest for adventure. He treasured his wonderful Italian family and the family he created more than words could ever describe.
Alfredo is survived by his wife and soulmate, Rhiana Kohl. His two beautiful daughters, Jesse Bartolozzi, Isabella Bartolozzi Hablitz and son-in-law, Ryan Hablitz. Alfredo was predeceased by his father, Alfredo Bartolozzi, Sr. He is survived by his mother Alma Iacopucci Bartolozzi, and sister, Loriana Bartolozzi Connell, of Tewksbury, MA as well as his uncle, Frank Iacopucci, and many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was also very close to his in-laws, predeceased by Rhiana's father, Marvin Kohl and brother, Matthew Kohl; survived by Rhiana's siblings, Maura Kohl Gould of Cambridge, MA, Richard Kohl of Beaverton, OR and mother-in-law, Phylia Kohl of NYC.
