Kenneth D. Leon, 71, formally of Watertown, NY, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at his home. He was the beloved husband of Catherine (Carbone) Leon for 46 years.
Ken was born on June 24, 1951, he was the son of the late Victor and Ruth (Markey) Leon. He grew up in Watertown, New York and graduated from Watertown High School in 1969. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Colgate University in 1973. Soon after college he went to take over his family business of JR Miller from 1974 -1993.
After closing Jr. Miller, Ken went back to school to get his Master’s Degree in School Business Administration from the University of Albany. Within two weeks of graduating, he accepted a job in Franklin, MA as a school business administrator for the Franklin Public school system and then later for the Canton Public school system.
He was a member of the School Business Administrators Association and was an avid golfer.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Michael Leoni of Los Angeles, California. Ken was actively involved with Michael’s passion for Film/Theatre, whether it was helping him with lines, producing his high school plays, working on his scripts and watching cuts of his films for notes. Ken never missed a performance or a film screening in Los Angeles or New York City.
Even though Michael was his only child, Ken was a father figure to many.
He is also survived by three brothers, Kerry Leon and his wife Louise of Sacramento, California, Victor Leon and his wife Frances of Watertown, NY, Donald Leon and his wife Leslie of Hobe Sound, Florida, his many nieces and nephews and his father in-law, Nate Carbone.
A celebration of life is planned for later this summer in Watertown , New York.
