BUXTON- Gwendolyn “Nini” Hatch, age 92, passed away on April 4, 2023, after a brief illness.
She was born on July 1st, 1930, in Auburn, Maine, daughter of Eugene and Evelyn Ranks. She graduated from Samuel D. Hanson High School in 1948 and worked for Cushman Bakery in Portland. She had a nursing career that started in Gorham at the Files Nursing Home. She later became a certified geriatric nurses’ aide in 1976 and worked at National Medical Care in Portland and later at Maine Medical Center where she retired in 1995. During her career she was awarded CNA of the Year. IN her retirement she volunteered and was president of the Buxton Community Food Cupboard.
She is predeceased by her husband- Walter A. Hatch and a granddaughter- Tressa E. Pendleton.
She is survived by her children- Carolyne Hatch-Destro and her husband Roberto, Gail Pendleton, Dana Hatch and is wife Lisa, Robin Rodriguez, Jeannette Hatch, Judith Hatch; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday April 10th from 5 – 7 PM, followed by a 7 PM service at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. Burial will be held at a later at date at Pine Grove Cemetery in North Buxton.
