Tony was born on August 13, 1933, to Guila and Mariano Vallace in Port Chester, NY, the youngest of six children (and only son). He was a proud graduate of Archbishop Stepinac High School (’51), the University of Notre Dame (’55), and Fordham Law School (’58). Tony was honored to serve as class President for the inaugural graduating class of Archbishop Stepinac High School, where he was also recognized as an All-Metro New York City football player. The first in his family to attend college, Tony was a member of the Naval ROTC and a walk-on football player for the University of Notre Dame (he later realized his physical stature would limit his career as a varsity lineman). After graduating from Fordham Law School with academic honors, he married the love of his life, Yvonne Bajada. As a newlywed, Tony enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served in the U.S. Navy JAG Corps and was discharged with the rank of Captain. Yvonne and Tony welcomed their first two children while living on the US Marine Corps base in Quantico, VA.
Tony had a distinguished career in banking as well as real estate development and investment. Tony held executive leadership positions at Chemical Bank, Galbreath-Ruffin Corporation, Cabot, Cabot & Forbes, and Shawmut Bank. He was a leader with impeccable character, and he actively mentored and helped launch the careers of many.
Tony was a man of unbreakable faith – a tireless advocate for Catholic education and leadership formation within the Church. He served as a Knight of Malta, a trustee for St. Michael’s College, St. Sebastian’s School, Our Lady of Mercy Academy, Pope John the XXIII Seminary, and on the Advisory Council for the Institute for Church Life of his beloved alma mater, the University of Notre Dame.
Above all, Tony’s proudest achievement in life was his family. He was an exemplary role model to his children and grandchildren. His life was defined by loving his wife and family unconditionally, embracing and practicing his faith, pursuing higher education, and celebrating life with his family and friends.
Anthony E. Vallace lived a full life and loved dearly his wife Yvonne, his six children and their spouses, his twenty-six grandchildren and his many friends stretching from Stepinac, Notre Dame, Fordham Law, the Marines Corps, Stewart Manor and Garden City, NY, Buenos Aires, Weston, MA, and Naples, FL.

It was a beautiful summer day, and we were out on a sailboat. Dad turned to me and said, “you know when you see a day like this, you know there just has to be a God!”
