Virginia Ann Gomes, 65, of Franklin, died peacefully on April 2, 2023 at the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Natick. She was the loving mother of Keith Sheikh of Franklin.
Born in New Bedford on November 9, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Gomes and Virginia Caldwell.
Virginia was a resident of Franklin for the past seventeen years and formerly resided in Boston.
She grew up in New Bedford and graduated from New Bedford High School. Virginia attended Chamberlain Community College and earned an Associate’s degree from Mt. Ida College.
She worked as a CNA and homemaker for Primary Home Care in Milford for ten years. She had previously worked as a teacher at various day cares in the Boston area.
Virginia was proud of her Native American Cherokee heritage and was a member of the Native American Tribe – Turtle Clan from 2012-2016. She enjoyed attending pow-wows, listening to all kinds of music and loved animals and cooking. She also enjoyed being both on and near the water, and especially going on boat rides in the Boston Harbor.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass on Tuesday, April 11 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery.
