Americo Mirabella, of Medford, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, April 1st. He was 85. Born in Carife, Italy, he was the son of the late Bertoldo and Maria (Manzi) Mirabella.
Americo was an expert when it came to gardening. A green thumb came naturally. He was extremely dedicated to his garden, planting vegetables, perennials and annuals, always making sure his garden was in constant bloom and producing vegetables. Americo took great pride in the care of his cherished Oleanders that thrived throughout his yard; they reminded him of his childhood home in Italy.
Americo was a generous man who always shared with his family, friends and neighbors the abundance of assorted vegetables; peaches, figs, plums and grapes that thrived in his meticulously kept garden. When Americo was not spending time in his garden, he was with his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Americo’s family was his pride and joy, and they were his world. Americo was a dedicated husband, a great dad, loving Nonno and Great-Nonno, friend and neighbor. He will be greatly missed.
Americo was the beloved husband of the late Angiolina (Micciolo) Mirabella. He was the devoted father of Maria Polleys and her husband William of Reading, Bertoldo “Barry” Mirabella and his wife Linda of Lynnfield, and Gaetano “Guy” Mirabella and his wife Rosalie of Reading. Loving Nonno of Angela Grosso and her husband Daniel of Bellingham, Christopher Polleys of Medford, Marina and Michael Mirabella of Lynnfield, Matteo Mirabella of Reading, and Christian Perez of Tewksbury. He was the caring Great-Nonno of Domenic and Arianna Grosso, and Natalia and Alessandra Perez, and the dear brother of Savio Mirabella of Reading, and Rosa Mirabella of Santa Marinella, Italy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 11th, at St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford, at 9:30 AM.
