Richard A. Giordano, age 81, of Norton passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at the Milford Regional Medical Center in Milford.
Born in Norwood, MA on September 6, 1941, he was a loving son of the late Alphonse A. and Angelina M. (Lorusso) Giordano.
Richard grew up in Norwood and was a graduate of Norwood High School. He continued his education, receiving a bachelor’s degree in Social Studies from Boston State College and two master’s degrees in Guidance and Social Studies from Bridgewater State College.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Giordano taught at Norwood Junior High School where he was affectionately known by his students as “Mr. G”. He had made his home in Norton for many years and was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton where served as a former CCD Teacher and as a former Eucharistic Minister.
Dick loved spending time with his adoring family and socializing with friends on most morning trips to Dunkin Donuts. His hobbies included collecting baseball cards, listening to oldies music, umpiring baseball and bicycle riding.
He is survived by his devoted daughters: Elizabeth A. Sousa and her husband Ricardo of Newton, Lisa M. Powers and her husband Don of Wrentham and Julie H. Giordano of Rockland. He was the cherished and proud grandfather of Olivia, Dylan, Meghan, Grace and Gavin. He was the dear brother of Joseph Giordano and his wife Patricia of Cotuit and John Giordano of Canton. He was the former husband of Diane E. Giordano of Attleboro and the loving uncle of Andrea Bruce, Joseph Giordano, Scott Giordano, Amy Trombley, Steven Vincent, Andrew Delisio and Robert Delisio.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, April 8th from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 10th at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street in Norton. Burial will follow at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.
