The family moved from South Dakota to Prosser in the 1940’s where she grew up from a young age and graduated from Prosser High School in 1948. Dorothy married Ross McKinley in Prosser at the Presbyterian Church in 1950. The couple moved to Lake City, in the Seattle area, in the early 1950’s and they started the first Dry Cleaning Plant in the Seattle area. In the early 1970’s, they moved to Kirkland and then to Deming, Washington in 1980. They moved back to Prosser in 1989 to be closer to family. Dorothy and Ross owned and operated Dry Cleaning Plants in the Seattle area, Bellingham and Prosser and retired in 1990.
