SPRINGFIELD - William F. "Bill" Murphy, 65, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, April 1, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on May 29, 1957, a beloved son of the late James F. Murphy, Sr. and Marguerite V. (Moriarty) Murphy. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from Classical High School in Springfield and was a lifelong resident of Springfield. He was employed as a Custodian for the Springfield Public School Department. Bill was the longtime Equipment Manager for the Springfield Acorns Football Team. He was an active volunteer for many years with Habitat for Humanity. He was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Hope Church in Springfield. Bill loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his three loving sisters, Maureen Murphy Dion and her husband, Robert Dion, of South Hero, VT, Bobbie Murphy Frydryk and her husband, Mark Frydryk, of Ludlow and Martha Murphy Kane of Northampton; his six cherished nephews and nieces, Shauna Palin, Lindsay Frydryk Fernald and her husband, Jeremy Fernald, Andrew Frydryk, Brittney Kane and her husband, Sawyer Kane, Devan Kane and Aidan Kane; his cherished grand nieces and grand nephew, Emma Grace Palin, Calem Fernald, and Carden Fernald; his dear aunt, Mary Daly Murphy of Springfield, VA; and his many dear cousins, extended family members and friends. His family will host a Celebration of Life Service at a future date. His funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107.
