Obituary

Brockton – Bettie Ann (Chapman) Geary, 88, of Whitman passed away peacefully on March 15, 2023 in the Good Samaritan Medical Center after a brief illness.

Bettie was born in 1934 in Swampscott, Massachusetts, youngest daughter to the late Ralph and Mildred Chapman. She married James Geary on October 10, 1952, and settled in Whitman to raise their family. Bettie worked mainly as a waitress at many fine establishments such as The Red Coach Grille in Middleboro, The Capeway Manor in Brockton, and the famous Toll House Restaurant in Whitman.

She leaves behind two sons, Bruce Geary of Sarasota Florida, Michael Geary and his wife Lynn of Bradford, Rhode Island, and a daughter, Donna Callahan and her husband Charles of Rotonda West, Florida, nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She also leaves family friend Brent Morris and her neighbors and friends. She will also be missed by Benny and Lola her little furry friends.

She and Jimmy often traveled to Maine and enjoyed many trips to the Fryeburg Fair. She was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and would always watch the games on TV. She also loved to watch golf and followed Tiger Woods.

Later in life, after her husband passed, she was known to frequent the Whitman Senior Center where she played Bingo, Mah Jongg and Left Right Center. She also enjoyed line dancing and chair yoga.

As per her wishes, funeral services will be private. Memorial donations can be made to Beacon Hospice, or The Whitman Council on Aging.
