Patsy Jo (Austin) Whalon, 95, of Anderson went home to be with the Lord March 31, 2023 at Bethany Pointe Health Campus, Anderson.
Patsy was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on January 29, 1928, the daughter of William and Judith (Davis) Austin. She married Rodney Charles Whalon on June 21, 1951.
Patsy was a graduate of Anderson University and Ball State University and was a biology teacher in the Anderson Community Schools for 15 years, retiring in 1985. She also worked as a secretary for Warner Press.
She attended Park Place Church of God where she was a member of Pathways Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and Companero Club.
Patsy is survived by her five children, Michael R. (Denise) Whalon of Lee Summit, Missouri, Rhonda J. (Tim) Henkle of Carmel, Charlene R. (Christopher) Sparks of Fort Myers, Florida; Karen R. (Ronald) Throesch of Holland, Michigan and Robert W. (Patricia) Whalon of Anderson; 17 grandchildren, Todd, Trent, Katie and Joseph Whalon, Ryan, Amberly, Jennifer and Aaron Henkle, Josh, Jama and Jon Barr, Stacy, Forrest, Andrew and Benjamin Throesch, Audra Fayth and Adam Whalon; 25 great grandchildren;cousin, Dan W. (Thyra) Austin, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Bill and Garland Austin and grandson, Kyle Henkle.
Services will be held at Noon, on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday beginning at 10 AM.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Park Place Church of God Food Pantry or the Alzheimer Association.
