BOURLOUKAS, Helen Collias of Brookline, MA, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Spiros Bourloukas. Loving mother of Dean Bourloukas and his wife Wendy of Leesburg, VA, the late Alesia Bourloukas of Brookline, the late John (Tami) Bourloukas of Melrose. Grandmother of Emily & Sarah Bourloukas of Leesburg, VA. Sister of the late Arthur Collias (Bess) of Canton, MA.
Helen began her career after graduating from Boston University with a degree in Mathematics in 1954. Impressively, Helen started her technical career as an Engineer at Raytheon. She obtained a Security Clearance and wrote computer programs to calculate missile trajectories for a classified U.S. Government project. Years later, Helen also wrote computer code on giant IBM mainframes for the Federal Reserve Bank.
In 1959 she found the time to get married and later raise her three children, Alesia, Dean (formerly known as Charles), and John.
Helen retired during the early 1990’s but later in that decade was summoned back to the workforce as a consultant to resolve computer code issues related to “Y2K”.
After her children were grown, and Helen finally retired for good, she and her husband Spiros enjoyed travelling with friends and family, with visits to see granddaughters Emily & Sarah among her favorite destinations. Helen was an amazing mother and a fantastic “Yia Yia”. She spoiled her grandchildren by constantly feeding them her famous Avgolemono Soup and Spanikopita.
Her warmth, intellect, and laughter will be missed by all who knew her.
