Denis G. O’Sullivan, Sr., 86

Denis G. O’Sullivan, Sr., age 86, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the Hope Health Hospice Center in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Carol A. (Legare) O’Sullivan, to whom he was wed on November 27, 1965.
Born in Norwood, MA on April 19, 1936, he was a loving son of the late James and Julia (Conway) O’Sullivan.
Denis grew up and was educated in Norwood. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for two years, was a resident of Mansfield for the past fifty-seven years and a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield.
Prior to retiring, Mr. O’Sullivan was employed for forty-six years as a security officer at the Raytheon Corporation in Norwood and was also a former special police officer for the Town of Mansfield.
Denis loved spending time with family, building classic warship models and his Ford F-150 pickup truck. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of watching television while relaxing at home and especially sitting down to a delicious homecooked meal prepared by his wife Carol.
In addition to his wife Carol, he is survived by his devoted sons: Denis G. O’Sullivan, Jr. and his wife Aroshna of South Africa and William C. O’Sullivan of North Attleboro. He was the dear brother of Eileen Flood of Bourne, Brian O’Sullivan of Norton and the late James O’Sullivan and Maureen McDonough. He was the cherished grandfather of Courtney, Madison and Paige, and is also survived by 3 great grandchildren and as well as his loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, April 5th from 10:00 A.M.- 12:00 Noon at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield. A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visitation at 12:00 Noon in the funeral home.
Burial, along with military honors will take place on Thursday, April 6th at 12:45 P.M. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Those attending are asked to please go directly to the cemetery and arrive by 12:30 P.M.
