James Lee "Jim" Baker, 88, of Anderson died March 29, 2023 at Community Hospital after a brief illness.
Jim was born August 7, 1934 in Anderson, the son of Charles C. and Iona (Bohne) Baker.
He served in the United States Army, before becoming a firefighter for the Anderson Fire Department.
He worked as a security officer for Guide Lamp division of General Motors 29 years before retiring July 30, 1995, and also at Hoosier Park after retirement.
He was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Anderson.
He is survived by his three children, Karen (Joe) Parker of Concord, NC; Brian (Connie) Baker and Carol (Larry) McWhorter all of Anderson; sister, Emily Isenhour of Anderson, brother, Charles (DeEtta) Baker of Anderson; five grandchildren, Clifton Jones, Lee McWhorter, Noah McWhorter, Evan Parker and Ryan Parker; five great-grandchildren, Isaiah Jones, Jannah Jones, Sumayyah Macklin, Nylah Macklin and L'leana Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sophie H. (Lorenz) Baker; brother, Phillip Baker, two sisters, June Hacker and Jane Wilson; granddaughter, Lindsay Cooper, daughter, Linda Jones; half brother, Robert Baker; great-grandson, Ahmad Macklin; nephew, Bill Wilson and great-niece, Anna Baker.
Funeral services will be at noon on Monday, April 3, 2023 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Dennis Zirkle of Meadowbrook Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to Daleville American Legion.
