Richard A. (“Dickey”) Chagnon, age 90, of Medford passed away on Wednesday, March 29th, at Atrium At Drum Hill of North Chelmsford. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Leon and Katherine (St. Germaine) Chagnon. Richard proudly served in the Army during the Korean War. After returning to civilian life, he married and settled in Medford, working for many years as a bus driver for the MBTA.
Richard was the beloved husband of the late Mary P. “Marilyn” (Gentile) Chagnon, and the devoted father of Richard H. Chagnon of Chicago and Marianne Keenan and her husband Lawrence of Ayer. He was the dear brother-in-law of Ralph Gentile and his late wife Jean of Dublin, NH, uncle of Linda Bratton and her husband Peter, Ralph Gentile and his wife Dawn, Karen Gentile and Robert Gentile. Richard was the cherished great uncle of Peter and Michael Bratton, Marissa, Ryan and Joseph Gentile, Kristen Cochran, Kerri Maurier, Laura Corsaut, Gina and Spencer Gentile. He was the great great uncle of Sidney, Khloe, Aiden, SJ, Abigail, Lydia, and Dominic and is also survived by many loving family and friends.
A funeral will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Tuesday, April 4th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with family on Monday, April 3rd, from 4 through 7 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
