Janice O. Gibbs(Odell), age 86, of Onset, formerly of Canton passed away March 26th. Born in Wilton, ME, she was raised in Canton and graduated from Canton High School and Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School. She worked for several years as an Accountant for her husband’s business Gibbs-McCalister Inc. She was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed spending time with her husband and family. She also enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Mission Valley Country Club in Sarasota, FL. She also enjoyed boating and wintered on their boat in the Bahamas for several years.
Beloved wife of her high school sweetheart George J. Gibbs Jr. Mother of Kathy McCormack and her husband Paul of Canton, Carrie Bird and her husband Richard of Canton, George Gibbs of Onset, and Timothy Gibbs and his wife Susan of Canton. Sister of Mary Jane Odell of Canton and the late Perley Odell, Priscilla Page, Patricia Fama, Joline Clifford, & Sylvia LaCroix. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral service at the Congregational Church of Canton, Canton Thursday morning April 6th at 11:00. Visiting hours prior to the service Thursday morning at the Church from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Burial Canton Corner Cemetery. Donations may be made in Janice’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
