On March 29, 2023, Georgia G. Cuilty passed away peacefully at her home. She was 93 years old.
Georgia was a first generation daughter of migrant workers, Brigido and Maurilia Viramontes. She was born in Santa Paula, California, and it was there she spent her childhood and young adult years with her parents, 7 brothers and 4 sisters enjoying happy years together. Georgia graduated from Santa Paula High School - Class of 1947. It was there she established long time friendships, which she maintained throughout her life.
Georgia met her future husband, Joe Hector Cuilty, while working at Port Hueneme Naval Base. After a short courtship, they were married in 1954 and settled in Oxnard, California. She stopped working when the kids came along, and they kept her busy for the next twelve years. She then returned to resume her career as a data specialist at the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Port Hueneme, and she retired in 1993.
Georgia enjoyed photography, was artistic in drawing and sketching, and was an excellent seamstress. Her love of travel took her to faraway places that included a pilgrimage to Lourdes, the Holy Land, France, Morocco and other European destinations. Georgia was very devoted to her faith and had a life-long devotion to her church community.
Georgia was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be missed by her family and friends. Georgia was predeceased by her loving husband, Joe Hector Cuilty, in 1994. She is survived by her daughters, Paula (Skip) Miller, Greta Cuilty, and sons, Jon Cuilty, and Brian (Annette) Cuilty, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours to be held on Thursday evening April 20, 2023, from 6 to 8pm in the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E. Main Street, Ventura, where a Most Holy Rosary will be recited at 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Friday, April 21, 2023, at Santa Clara Chapel, 1333 Ventura Blvd, Oxnard. Burial will follow in Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Life Center of Ventura County or World Vision. Arrangements are under the direction of the JOSEPH P.
