David A. Asiaf, age 80, of Bridgewater, died peacefully on March 25, 2023, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital with Kathy and Kate by his side. David was the loving husband of his high school sweetheart Katherine M. “Kathy” (Newell) Asiaf. Born and raised in Brockton, he was the son of the late Peter G. and Mary T. (Rugus) Asiaf. A 1961 graduate of Brockton High School, David served in the Army National Guard for seven years.
David was always a hard worker. Starting as a teenager, he worked for his father for many years at the Colonial Diner in Brockton as a cook. He then served as the Chief Court Officer of Plymouth County for 32 years. For 58 years, he and his wife owned and operated Asiaf & Associates, where he was a constable for the City of Brockton and surrounding towns.
David’s motto was to “Work Hard, Play Hard.” He lived life to the fullest. He was usually the jokester and life of the party but could also always be counted on: a true man of his word. He was always the first to lend a hand or help someone in need. He was the proud president of the Asiaf Raiders Motorcycle Club. He had a passion for motorcycling, playing cards and playing his guitar or ukulele while his granddaughter danced to his songs. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, four-wheeling and meticulously caring for his lawn on his tractor.
In addition, some of his fondest memories were with the “Corner Guys” who referred to him as Ace or Ziggy. He especially cherished spending time with his “three favorite girls” Kathy, Kate and Elarie.
He was a member of the Massachusetts Bay Constables Association, Elks Club of Brockton, Samoset Rod & Gun Club, Bridgewater Veterans Club, National Rifle Association, Parkwood Beach Association and the Lebanese American National Club.
In addition to his wife Kathy, he is survived by his daughter Kate Asiaf of Mansfield, and his granddaughter Elarie. He was the brother of Patricia Lake of Hyannis and the late Peter G. Asiaf, Jr., Joan Colandrea, Dian Asiaf and Bruce Asiaf. He was the brother-in-law of Mary Ann Asiaf, Mary Asiaf and Paul Colandrea. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and colleagues whom he loved dearly.
