CHICOPEE – Sean A. Gallagher, 85, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Home Safely Home on Friday, March 24, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Limerick City, Ireland on July 13, 1937, a beloved son of the late Denis and Margaret (O’Farrell) Gallagher. He was raised and educated in Ireland where he lived all over the Emerald Isle, he served in the British Royal Air Force, and settled in Chicopee in 1961 where he lived the remainder of his life. He was a longtime steam fitter for the Kenneth Baru Heating and Plumbing Company in Holyoke. He enjoyed playing cards and attending events at the John Boyle O’Reilly Club in Springfield. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and many friends. He was a communicant of the former Saint George Church and currently was a communicant at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, both in Chicopee. He leaves his beloved wife, Mary J. (Wyard-Scott) Gallagher. They were married on January 17, 1959 at Corpus Christie Church in Romford, Essex, England and they were blessed with over 64 years of happiness together. He also leaves his six loving children, Kathleen M. McQuilkin and her husband, Steve, of Denver, CO, Sean P. Gallagher and his wife, Marian, of Cordova, MD, Brendan M. Gallagher and his wife, Karen, of Chicopee, Siobhan M. Gallagher and her husband, Charles Hwang, of Denver, CO, Kevin M. Gallagher and his wife, Cheryl, of Baldwinville, MA and Kieran M. Gallagher of Torrance, CA; his ten cherished grandchildren, Sean Langelier and his fiancée, Lauren, Bianca Gallagher, Brendan Gallagher and his wife, Sarah, Liam Gallagher, Deirdre Gallagher, Brandy Gallagher, Ryan Gallagher, Olivia Gallagher, Ashlin Gallagher, and Alaina Gallagher; his two dear brothers, Denis Gallagher and his wife, Marilyn, of Kennesaw, GA, and Thomas Gallagher of North Fork, CA; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members in the United States, Ireland and England. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved son, Eamonn Sean Gallagher who was Called Home on July 11, 2010; his cherished granddaughter, Kathryn Gallagher, His dear brother, James Pascal Gallagher; his six dear sisters, Rita Caputo, Kathleen Gallagher, Mary Quinn, Barbara McAllister, Elizabeth DeShazer, and Brenda “Terry” Soracco.
