Peter F. Molander, Jr. 58, of Bellingham passed away at his home on Friday, March 24, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Lizanne C. Noble.
Born February 5, 1965 in Haverhill, the son of Mary and Peter F. Molander, Sr. he was raised in North Andover.
Peter was a Dean’s List student who graduated from Merrimack College with a degree in Computer Science. He worked his entire career as a Software Developer and Engineer.
Peter’s enjoyment of sports and athletics began at a young age. Backyard games with his siblings and friends were daily events. In high school Peter was a sprinter and did field events for the North Andover Track & Field team. He was an avid fan of college and professional sports teams, including the Patriots. His love of music ensued from learning to play the piano and drums, playing in the school bands throughout his education.
Peter always loved the outdoors and his children, parents, sisters and wife have many happy memories together and separately of camping, biking, gardening, fishing, skiing, boating, hiking, running and going to the beach. He loved boating with his children, especially around the lake and wouldn’t hesitate to cajole them into skiing black diamond trails with the promise of a good sticky bun afterwards. All of his family, including his three ‘rowdy children’ (now adults) have been lucky enough to travel with Peter up and down the East Coast as well as across the country. He was a good cook too and loved to prepare thanksgiving meals for his family. A beloved father to his three children, they will remember him as a man of character.
In his spare time, he loved to work on cars, boats, snowmobiles and just about anything with an engine. He could fix anything and loved to build things too, something he learned from and shared with his father, along with their mutual love for the Chevy Corvair. He was never intimidated to take on any task, big or small. He was very generous in sharing his assortment of skills to those he loved and could always be counted on to have an unconventional solution to any problem. Peter could be quiet and reserved; however, he had a wonderful sarcastic and self-deprecating wit that could really make you laugh, and will be greatly missed.
Although Peter and Lizanne met later in life, it was incredibly full of fun and adventure with a common passion for running, near or far. Together they traveled frequently, most recently skiing in the French Alps and often took a few days or a weekend to a sunny destination every year. Peter was an incredibly loving and supportive husband, best friend, and confidant. Spending their time together was a bonus in each other’s lives. Peter’s absence will be felt by everyone whose life he touched, as will his smile and kind soul.
In addition to his wife, Peter is survived by his children, Rachael Molander (Justin) of Woonsocket, RI Matthew Molander (Liz) of Worcester, and Isabelle Molander (Athreya) of Cambridge. He also precedes his parents, Mary and Peter F. Molander, Sr. of North Andover and three sisters, Jean Soltys (Mark) of Hampstead, NH, Janet Carney (Carmen) of Plymouth and Mary Babigian (Dickran) of Hopkinton. Peter also has a large extended family, including many Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage Street, Franklin, MA from 3-5 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be dedicated in Peter Molander’s name at the American Cancer Society.
