SULLIVAN, Rose A. of Boston passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Marian Manor nursing home in South Boston. Rose was born on August 30, 1923 in Boston, Massachusetts. She was the younger child of the late David and Teresa (Spoth) Sullivan. Her sister Mary (Sullivan) Olsen predeceased her. Rose is survived by two nephews Richard Olsen of New Hampshire and David Olsen of South Carolina, and two nieces Ellen Finnegan of Massachusetts and Mary Bowers of Massachusetts. Rose was an active communicant of Holy Trinity Church and attended daily mass in her retirement. Rose grew up in Roxbury and was a lifelong employee of MetLife in Mattapan. After her retirement she moved to Brookline, where she was embraced by her new community. Because of her love for knitting and crocheting, Rose soon became a member of the knitting club. Their meetings were often held at the community pool, where good conversations were held and wonderful projects completed. Rose was a fiercely independent woman who often said: "I paddle my own canoe." She was an avid and experienced world traveler, often sharing these adventures with her longtime friend Al Geiger. Rose's favorite destinations were Bermuda and Martha's Vineyard. She wasn't quite sure if it was the soft Bermuda sands or the quaint gingerbread houses that enticed her to return so often. Whatever the reasons, Rose was always welcomed by the many friends she made over the years. Over several bus trips to Revere Beach in her later years, Rose met and became dear friends with Martha Ithier of Everett. They enjoyed a rich and rewarding friendship right up to the time of Rose's passing. Rose will be remembered for her love of family, friends, travel, hobbies and most of all her deep religious faith. A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 28th at 1pm at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Randolph.
