Kathryn Alphas-Richlen, age 61, of Weston, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and loved ones on Friday, March 24, 2023. She is survived by her beloved husband, Craig Richlen, and her adored children, Ally Dillaway and her husband Nelson, and Stephen Richlen. She was the devoted daughter of Dr. Stephen and Alexandra Alphas and the cherished sister of John Alphas and his wife Sharon, Susan Bruning and her husband Kevin, and Peter Alphas and his wife Rory. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who adored her.
Born on December 22, 1961, in Boston, the second of four children, she attended Weston High School and then Boston University where she received her bachelor’s degree in business. Kathryn spent the early part of her career in finance and accounting, then worked as a long-time real estate agent for Coldwell Banker in Weston, where she quickly became one of the nation’s leading brokers. Kathryn was recognized as one of the top 100 brokers in the United States.
Kathryn’s career in real estate was richly fulfilling. She loved meeting a family for the first time, learning about them, and creating a lasting relationship. Those who encountered Kathryn quickly went from clients to friends and were welcomed into her life. Beyond her career, Kathryn had the same warm affection for her large extended family as well as her children’s friends and their families. She loved to welcome them into her home as though they were her own. A friend’s problem was never too small nor too large for Kathryn. She inspired those around her and made them feel special.
Kathryn was a lifelong member of the St Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Weston. She was also a longtime member of Woodland Golf Club.
The funeral service will be held at St Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 57 Brown St., Weston, on Saturday, April 1, at 10am. Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral home, 477 Washington St., (Rt.16) Wellesley,, on Friday, March 31, from 4-8pm. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Linwood Cemetery, Weston.
