Obituary

Margaret J. (Indelicato) Ferrera, 80, of York, ME, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023, at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Augustine J. 'Gus' Ferrera, who passed away in February 2022, just shy of their 60th wedding anniversary.

Margaret was born on May 3, 1942, in Boston, to the late John and Louise (Marcantonio) Indelicato. She attended schools in Boston and later married and began her family in Brighton before relocating to Tewksbury in 1974.

While in Tewksbury, Margaret was a communicant of St. William's Church. She worked various jobs, including selling real estate and doing secretarial work, before earning her RN in her 50s and working for Tewksbury State Hospital until her retirement.

After her retirement and move to Maine in 2001, Margaret kept busy as a hospice nurse volunteer and was part of a knitting group that made comfort shawls for hospice patients.

She enjoyed traveling with her husband to many destinations, including Italy, Alaska, Panama Canal, Canary Island, Grand Canyon, Florida, and a cross-country drive to Washington state to visit their son. Margaret also loved spending time on the beach, either at York Beach or Nantasket Beach. She was fond of photography, reading, arts and crafts, quilting, gardening, and golfing. Above all, spending time with her family, especially her three granddaughters, brought her the most joy.

Margaret is survived by her three children, Gail T. Simard of Nashua, NH, John A. Ferrera of Everett, Washington, and James J. Ferrera and Stacy Pham of Groveland, MA; her three granddaughters, Laura Bent and her husband Jacob, Marissa Ferrera and her fiancé Ed Allison, and Elliese Ferrera; her sister, Joyce Indelicato of Millville, MA; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Lulu.

Margaret will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, Nonnie, sister, and friend, who loved to entertain family and friends with her wonderful cooking. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
