Nena Christine Carroll, 85 of Fitzgerald, Georgia, went home to be with her Lord Saturday, March 25, 2023 in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, in Ben Hill County Georgia, with the Rev. Tommy Baker and Rev. Sammy Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from, 6 PM until 8 PM at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Carroll was born June 11, 1937, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Nicholas George and Ella Mae Pope. She graduated from Notre Dame Catholic girl’s school in Miami, Florida, and was employed as an administrative assistant at Colony City Finance and Home Finance, and retired as a dietician with Life Care Center in Fitzgerald, where she worked beside her beloved friend Hattie Battle.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of forty-six years, John Carroll; a daughter, Nena Francine Harper & Andy; 3 sons: Francis Roger Vickers Jr, Brant Thomas Vickers “Took’’ and Perry John Carroll & Sandra; adopted daughter, Cathy McMillan & Herman; adopted son, Bobby Hamilton & Debbie; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and a sister Shirley Pope Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and a great granddaughter.
