Walter S. Fedus
Retired Interstate Bakeries Corporation District Sales Manager

BILLERICA: Walter Stephen Fedus, age 79, a resident of Billerica for over 20 years, passed away at Lowell General Hospital on Wednesday evening, March 22, 2023.

He was the beloved husband of Margaret A. “Maggie” (Trainor) Fedus with whom he celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on June 29, 2022

Born in Colchester, Connecticut on October 19, 1943, he was the son of the late Lawrence Fedus and the late Wilhelmina (Walther) Fedus.

He was raised in Colchester, CT and attended Bacon Academy in Colchester, CT

In 1962, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War Era aboard the U.S.S. Canisteo. He was honorably discharged from active duty on October 10, 1964 in Norfolk, Virginia.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a District Sales Manager by Interstate Bakeries Corporation, which manufactured Hostess Cake and Wonder Bread products.

Walt was a member of the Lawrence, MA Lodge of Elks # 65 and the Nabnasset Lake Country Club in Westford.

He enjoyed cooking, golfing, playing cards, shooting pool, dancing, the game of cribbage, playing softball, and following the UCONN Girls Basketball, New York Yankees baseball and New England Patriots football teams. In addition, he enjoyed practical jokes and vacationing in Aruba.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his former wife, Peggy Fedus, who is the loving mother of his daughters, Suzanne Burns and her husband Henry and Sherri Sullivan and her husband Jay. He further leaves his children, Kathy Murphy and her husband Bob, John Shields and his wife Karla, and Barbara Barnaby. Walter was the grandfather of Brendan, Travis, James, Tyler, Madison, Morgan, Shannon, Matt, Heather, Rob, Jimmy, John, Ashley, Camron, Josh, Pauline, JJ, Nick, Bobby and Dennis. Brother of Lawrence Fedus and his late wife Jane, Mary Gagnon and her late husband Bob, Virginia Hill, Bill Fedus and his wife Kathy and Bob Fedus and his wife Sandra. He leaves many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, April 16th, from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, immediately followed by a memorial service to be held at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Michael Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at www.michaeljfox.org
