LEICESTER: Rose M. (Ouellette) Kowal, 91, of Virginia Dr. in the Rochdale section of Leicester, died peacefully with her devoted family by her side on Thursday, March 23rd in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester. She leaves her son; Richard P. Kowal and his wife Phaedra of Spencer, three loving grandchildren; Jillian Brigham and her husband Jacob of Dudley, Amanda Cardin and her husband Adam of Holden, and Christopher Kowal and his wife Jessica of Ellicott City, MD., step grandchildren; Greg Thomas and his wife Angela of Leominster, and Scott Thomas and his wife Colleen of Hudson, 12 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her daughter Patricia Kowal in 2000, her husband Kirol E Kowal in 2012 and her brother Louis G. Ouellette. Rose was born in Gloucester, MA, the daughter of Joseph and Bertha (Saulnier) Ouellette and lived in Spencer before moving to Rochdale. Rose worked for the Bank of America in Worcester for over 20 years prior to her retirement in 1994. Rose was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, sewing and playing cards with her friends at the Leicester Senior Center. She was a longtime volunteer knitter for St.Vincent Hospital in Worcester making hundreds hats over the years for newborns. Rose will be sincerely missed by her family and friends.
Rose's funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 29th. from the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Aloysius-St. Jude Church, 489 Pleasant St., Leicester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. prior to the funeral.
