Obituary

Allen David Jones, age 66, of Brockton, died March 11, 2023 at the VA Medical Center. He was born in Opelika, AL raised in Springfield, MA, the son of the late Marie Carter. He and his brother Victor were adopted by the late William Jones and the late Orreeda (Clinton) Jones. Allen leaves behind his brother Victor; they were bonded by love throughout trials and tribulations that toddlers should not have seen. He is also survived by his daughter Monique Carter and countless cousins.

Allen served six years in the Army and three years in the Marines during the Vietnam War. Because he had seen enough death and destruction as a soldier, he never wanted to kill or hurt anyone or anything again. He said he had traveled enough to know that home was the best place in the world. Allen fiercely loved his daughter, brother, my mom, our family, our cat, Roger and me.

A lover and connoisseur of music, Allen knew every artist and their back story and he
collected a myriad of songs. He also loved nature, birds, plants, and the garden. All Allen needed and wanted was to be surrounded by all he loved.

When he first came to live with us 10 years, Allen said we were his angels and that we helped him to feel healed. It turns out that he was our angel. When my mom became ill and came to stay with us, he helped her during the day while I was at work. She loved him dearly and they were great buddies. He would call her Private Joe to get her to take her medications and he made her laugh with funny animal videos. For a long time, Allen was my protector. The pain of his passing will not go away.

We will miss you, Allen. Rest in peace in the arms of Jesus.
Love and Prayers, Henriette and Victor
