Patricia Ann “Tricia” Schaefer, 77, of Chester, NH passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Catholic Medical Center of Manchester, NH. She was born February 10, 1946, in Salem, MA and was the daughter of late L. Phillip and Elizabeth (Fanning) LeBel. Tricia was raised and educated in Peabody, MA and received her Bachelor of Art in Graphic Design from Simmons College. She had lived in Chester for the past 19 years, after relocating from Beverly, MA.
Tricia was an artist, specializing in Portrait and Landscape painting. Tricia was an accomplished vocalist and longtime member of Sweet Adelines International. She had been a member since 1972 and sang in two distinct Barbershop Quartets, The Latest News and Boston Accent for a collective of 40 years. Tricia was a distinguished tenor, earning four first-place honors and three third-place honors during international competitions. Tricia was a proud member of the Sweet Adelines and followed competitions even after her retirement.
Tricia enjoyed spending time and traveling with her husband Rick and her beloved dogs Rhett, Gus, and Sassy over the years. She was known for being the historian of her family, her French-style cooking, and being quick with a joke. Tricia loved spending time and visiting with her brothers and their families.
She is survived by her husband, with whom she’s been together with for 54 years, Richard “Rick” Schaefer of Chester, her two brothers, Paul F. LeBel and his wife Alice of Millis, MA and William J. LeBel and his wife Anne Marie of Peabody, MA and her Mother-in-Law, Mary Francis Schaefer. She was predeceased by her brother Philip J. LeBel of Clifton, VA. Tricia is also survived by her many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly; Michael LeBel, Kate Schaefer and her husband Chas, Paul LeBel and his wife Paula, Jessica LeBel Martin and her husband Benjamin, Allison LeBel, Kevin LeBel, and Nicole LeBel. She leaves behind seven beautiful great nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 1 to 3pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry, NH. A Catholic prayer service will be held at 2:45pm.
