Lt. Peter J. Bartolo, 83, of Dartmouth, peacefully passed away at St. Luke's Hospital on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 with his wife of 60 years, Janice W. (Chorlian) by his side singing hymns.
Mr. Bartolo was born in Boston, son of the late Joseph and Lucy (Trabucco) Bartolo and had been a longtime resident of Dartmouth. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served his country in the Vietnam War. He attended Wentworth in Boston and graduated from technical school. Prior to retirement, he worked as a hearings officer for the Registry of Motor Vehicles. He was extremely smart and had previously worked as an auto mechanic and a master technician. There wasn't any project he could not do on his own. Mr. Bartolo attended the First Church of the Nazarene, New Bedford and was an avid Patriots fan.
Survivors along with his wife include his 3 daughters: Janice W. Daniel and her husband Barry of NC, Sandra L. Bartolo and her husband Kenneth Fichtenmayer of Dartmouth and Paula J. Bartolo and her companion Joseph Correia of Dartmouth; 3 grandchildren: Lexis Fichtenmayer, Lauren Fichtenmayer and Meena Daniel; great granddaughter: Gianna Lee; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Donna Bartolo and brother of the late Tina Pizzano, Theresa Rossi and Lucy Alba.
Visitation to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at the First Church of the Nazarene, 764 Hathaway Rd., New Bedford, MA 02740 from 10:00 A.M.-10:30 A.M. immediately followed by a funeral service at the church at 10:30 A.M.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Dartmouth.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport, MA 02790 to assist with the family with final expenses.
