Kathleen M. Bench of Winchester, MA passed away at home on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 of advanced stage cancer. She leaves behind her husband Lawrence, daughters Amy Badiali (Bill Breeden) and Liz Martin (Kevin), grandson Logan Robinson, countless nieces and nephews, friends, and her canine children Daisy and Barney. She was raised in Medford, MA, the daughter of the late Arthur and Gertrude Mornane, and younger sister of the late Claire Mornane Bogosian. Kathy was a clarinetist and drum major in the St. Agnes Marching Band, and later a member of the Color Guard of the Malden Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. Kathy was a member of one of the first graduating classes at Arlington Catholic High School. She enjoyed winters in Port Charlotte, Florida, and summers in Plymouth. She loved knitting, quilting, baking up a storm, and cheering on her grandson’s baseball team in Florida and BC football at Alumni Stadium. “Snack lady” to generations of students at the Neighborhood Cooperative Nursery School, Girl Scout troop leader, and St. Mary’s CCD teacher, Kathy cherished working with children.

Visiting hours will be held at Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington Street in Winchester on Thursday, March 30 from 4-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be said at St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington Street, Winchester, on Friday, March 31 at 10am with burial to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Arlington.
