Obituary

Scott William Dittrich, 77 of Franklin, MA died on March 21, 2023. Scott was the loving husband of Bonnie Simon Dittrich.

Scott was born in Salem on July 16, 1945. He was the son of Jacob Dittrich and Anita (Pekin) Dittrich.

Scott grew up in Marblehead, MA with his brothers Alan and Carl Dittrich. He had fond memories of playing football for Marblehead High School where he was a Captain.

Scott attended Doane College in Nebraska where he met the love of his life, Bonnie, who he spent the last 57 years with. Scott later went on to get his MBA from Hofstra.

For the last 45 years Scott worked as a Financial Advisor eventually starting his own firm, 1776 Financial in Franklin, with his son Mark. He loved interacting with his clients whom he considered dear friends. In fact, Scott so enjoyed working that he worked up until the last days of his life.

Scott spent most of his life in Norfolk, which he considered home. He was involved in countless community projects including the Lions Club, the YMCA where he served on the board, Habitat for Humanity, Norfolk Community Day, KP Sports Boosters, the Food Pantry the Santa Foundation as well as others.

Scott loved all of the experiences that life had to offer. His many experiences included world travels, which he shared with friends and family. Among his travels were Cuba, Peru and the Galapagos. He established the 1776 Travel Club and was able to travel with his treasured client friends. He was passionate about sports. He loved golf and was a member of Franklin Country Club. He also enjoyed swimming, skiing, racquet sports including racquetball, and pickle ball. In addition, Scott loved the arts and regularly attended concerts and plays. Scott also supported local artists and performers and sponsored many performances for friends.

Above all else, Scott loved his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie Simon Dittrich, his sons Matthew (Sacramento, California) and Mark (Wrentham, MA) as well as his four grandchildren Benjamin, Elisabeth, William and Andrew. Scott is also survived by his brothers Alan (Wellesley, MA), Carl (Bridgton, Maine) and his sister Sandy Adams (Wilmington, North Carolina) in addition to his nephews and cousins.

Scott will be greatly missed by his grandchildren who he spent many years traveling with, instructing on wood working projects, yard work, swimming, skiing and just conversing with. He was keenly interested in the lives of all of his family members and was always up to date on what was happening with them, never hesitating to share his opinions and advice.

Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life at the First Universalist Society Church, 262 Chestnut Street in Franklin MA on Monday, March 27. Services will begin at 4:00 p.m. with a reception following at the Franklin Country Club.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Norfolk Lions or the Franklin Food Pantry.
