Alexandra “Alex” Guild, 74 of Foxborough, formerly of Mansfield, passed away peacefully March 13th, 2023 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Alex is survived by her beloved husband John F. Newman with whom she spent 28 adventurous years.
Born October 28th, 1948 in Syracuse NY, Alex is predeceased by her parents George and Martha (Priestley) Guild of Mansfield, and brother Jonathan T. Guild of Taunton. She is survived by her loving brother Geoffrey Guild and his wife Deborah of Mansfield.
Alex was a 1966 graduate of Mansfield High School where she was captain of the cheerleading team, and a 1972 graduate of Wheaton College. Alex embraced the hippie culture, navigating across country the summer of 1967 to Guerneville, CA.
Employed by Amtrak for over 27 years, Alex worked in the food service car where she established and maintained life long friendships. Her close friends aptly named her “Sandy” with her signature blonde hair and trendy fashion sense.
Alex was a lover of music and old movies, and could often be found engrossed in her books. She was an avid sports fan, her favorite being the Boston Celtics.
Alex cherished most the time she spent creating the unique space she would call home with John and their many adored animals. Her dogs brought her immense happiness, each one fortunate to be loved by her.
Alex will be remembered for her free spirit, and generous heart. She was a daughter, sister, a wife and a friend, but above all, she was a beautiful, strong, independent woman. Alex was well traveled, well loved and well lived.
Burial is private. A celebration of life to be held at a future date.
