Randall Morris “Randy” Ashton, 75, of Anderson passed away unexpectedly on March 19, 2023 following a car accident in Florida.
He was born on February 7, 1948 in Anderson to Donald Morris and Leora Delores (Boots) Ashton. He graduated from Frankton High School in the Class of 1967.
He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
He worked for General Motors/Delphi in production for 30 years and retired in 2005. He was a member of National Council Corvette Clubs (NCCC), Indiana Region of National Council of Corvette Clubs, Anderson Corvette Association (ACA), International Motor Sports Association (IMSA), American Legion, and the UAW 662.
He loved spending time with his family especially his children and grandchildren’s activities. He was a 50 year member of all the corvette organizations and enjoyed racing and competing.
He is survived by his wife, Verla (Stephens) Ashton of Anderson; two children, Vincent (Chrysalis) Ashton of Wayland, Michigan and Lora Smith of Anderson; a brother, Curtis (Sandy) Ashton of Anderson; seven grandchildren, Nate (Precious Baker) Smith, Cate Smith, Zavier Bennett-Taylor, Quintin Bennett-Taylor, Jacob Ashton, Archer Bennett-Taylor, and Lucas Ashton; and a niece, Jessa Ashton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Leora Ashton.
A funeral service will be at 2:00pm on Monday, March 27, 2023 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with burial to follow at K. of P. I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Frankton, Indiana. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery.
The visitation will be from 11:00am-2:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to local charity of the donor’s choice.
A Celebration of Life will follow the burial at The Factory; 109 South 8th Street; Frankton, IN 46044.
