Joan Marie (Broadbridge) DiFoggio, of Tewksbury, passed away on her Ninetieth Birthday, Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Mary Immaculate Nursing and Restorative Center in Lawrence after a lengthy illness. She was the widow of the late Peter M. DiFoggio, Sr. who died in 2008.
A daughter of the late Leslie L. Broadbridge and the late Madeline (Maxwell) Broadbridge, she was born March 19, 1933 in Swampscott and was raised and educated there, graduating from Swampscott High School, Class of 1951. She then attended North Adams College and studied English at the University of Massachusetts.
Joan was a mother and grandmother above all else and family was her top priority, sharing her wisdom, kindness, and unending love with her children and especially with her grandchildren whom she adored. In addition, she was a member of the Sons of Italy, loved square dancing, her beloved dog, Brady, and enjoyed gardening, reading, embroidery, and board games with family and friends.
She worked as a dental assistant at the Dental Office of Dr. James Cleary for fifteen years before working at Central Supply at Tewksbury State Hospital for ten years before her retirement.
Her survivors include her children, Peter M. DiFoggio of Tewksbury and his former wife, Renee Renwick of Billerica, and Lisa Gagnon Olenchak and her husband, Michael Olenchak, of Tewksbury; her beloved grandchildren, Christopher, Steven, P.J., John, Brooke, Bradley, Amanda, Bridget, and Ian; her great grandchildren, Nathan, Deanna, Leanna, Jaxton, Briella and Sofia; her sister, Gail Torrey of Swampscott; her three nieces, Karen, Leighann, and Linda; and her nephew, Scott.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, the late Gail Spencer; and her brother in law, the late Richard Torrey.
Her funeral services will be held privately from the TEWKSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 1 DEWEY STREET, TEWKSBURY 978-851-2061.
